I attended a conference the other week, where I met Jose Duarte, owner of one of Boston’s up and coming restaurants, Taranta. Jose had the brilliant idea of creating an edible QR code (as also written about on BostInnovation).
Jose’s edible QR code was printed on a piece of chocolate. Although it didn’t last long in my hand (my sweet tooth got the best of me), it was very memorable!
The basic concept here – get your desert served to you, take out your smartphone, scan the QR code, and be taken to a mobile web page with information about the food you are eating, or be presented with a special offer or message (how long before we see QR code marriage proposals?!?).
Jose also uses calamari ink to create QR codes on the actual dishes that he serves in his restaurant.
